So today’s theme from Jim has given me the chance to choose a song I have loved from the first time I heard it. I think it’s one of those hearts that gets across a lot of feelings that you might never be able to say to someone.
This is “I Won’t Give Up” from Jason Mraz.

When I look into your eyes It’s like watching the night sky Or a beautiful sunrise Well, there’s so much they hold And just like them old stars I see that you’ve come so far To be right where you are How old is your soul?
Well, I won’t give up on us Even if the skies get rough I’m giving you all my love I’m still looking up
And when you’re needing your space To do some navigating I’ll be here patiently waiting To see what you find
‘Cause even the stars they burn Some even fall to the earth We’ve got a lot to learn God knows we’re worth it No, I won’t give up
I don’t wanna be someone who walks away so easily I’m here to stay and make the difference that I can make Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use The tools and gifts we got, yeah, we got a lot at stake And in the end, you’re still my friend at least we did intend For us to work we didn’t break, we didn’t burn We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in I had to learn what I’ve got, and what I’m not And who I am
I won’t give up on us Even if the skies get rough I’m giving you all my love I’m still looking up, I’m still looking up
Well, I won’t give up on us (no I’m not giving up) God knows I’m tough enough (I am tough, I am loved) We got a lot to learn (we’re alive, we are loved) God knows we’re worth it (and we’re worth it)
I won’t give up on us Even if the skies get rough I’m giving you all my love I’m still looking up
It is too long since we have been there, but one of my favourite places in the whole of England is in the Lake Distract. My legs ached from all the walking we did, but all the pain was worth it for the views.
I don’t have enough photos from our trips. Probably because I was so shattered by the time we reached the top of the Peaks, I could not even hold my camera up.
I had a couple of days off this week, and because the weather was mild, I went for a long walk. It felt good. There were so many signs of spring. It’s amazing the way it lifts your heart and makes you feel more alive.
Winter is passing away and the new season is ahead. Time for life to return. I will be so glad when the clocks go forward and the evenings are longer.
“Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.”
JAMES 4:8
Some people think God is not interested in humans today. Others doubt his existence. In fact many millions are estranged from their heavenly Father and do not know Him.
Yet by talking to God in prayer, listening to Him by reading the scriptures, following his directions and trusting Him – He will draw close to you.
Today, it is my privilege to welcome the awesomely talented writer and poet Kayla E. Green to the interview seat.
HI KAYLA,WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?
Hi Jacob, thank you so much for having me! I’m not a big drinker, so I’ll take a glass of milk, please. 🙂
COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.
My site is The Unicorn Writer, and my blogging name is @theunicornwriter93 – which is also my Instagram handle.
I love unicorns, and a former co-worker actually nicknamed me “Unicorn” because of my positive, bubbly nature. I decided the name was fitting and used it for my author platform and blog.
WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?
I started my blog in October of 2019.
WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?
I wanted a space to explore my writing and love of reading as well as to share some of my poetry.
Over time, the blog evolved. I now focus on book reviews, author interviews, bookish shop features, and some self-promotion of my books.
WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?
There are two blog posts currently tied as most popular: My first shared poem entitled “Purpose” and my interview with Indie author Sydney Hawthorn. My bookish shop features on Nerdy Book Box and Under the Sea Crochet are close behind in terms of popularity.
Readers that enjoy my poems like “Purpose” can read my entire collection, Metamorphosis, which is now available on Amazon.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?
I enjoy the interactions I have with others. Was it not for my blog, I would not have met some awesome people, like you, Jacob. I also would not have been able to interact with some of my favorite authors including M. H. Elrich and Maggie Platt.
FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?
If I have had a really bad day, my husband will sometimes stop and get me a crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich from McDonald’s – it always makes me smile. Ba da ba ba ba I’m lovin’ it!
IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Sunflowers are my absolute favorite!
DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?
In high school I was tasked with picking and playing a song for my Teacher Cadet class that encompassed my personality. I picked the Star Wars theme song as I am nerdy, quirky, and awesome 😀
Though I am still a self-proclaimed nerd, I would have to say the song Evidence by Josh Baldwin has really been my “theme” for 2021 – I am blessed, and I am actively trying to appreciate God’s goodness more so everyday.
DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?
I am currently under contract with Ambassador International to publish my first novella. My current WIP (writing in progress) is one I have been working on for years – The Goodness of Unicorns – and it is my dream to have it published as well.
I would love to be a career author, but I have to wait and see what God’s plan is for me in the long-run! I do know that it is something I will work for every day moving forward.
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?
I want my blog to connect both readers and writers in the name of good books. I want aspiring authors to feel like they can accomplish their writing goals and I want them to listen to the story God writes on their hearts.
Thank you so much, Jacob, for taking the time to interview me! I have had so much fun. 🙂

It was an absolute pleasure to interview you Kayla. I loved the energy and positivity that came across in your answers. It is so fantastic that you have been able to forge links with other writers. I wish you every success in your writing journey! It sounds real exciting!
And forgive me but I have to say the McDonald’s crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich is exactly what would bring a huge smile to my face too!
I had a lot of good news to choose from for this week’s Tuesday News. There were so many reports on animals frolicking in the snow and coming to the rescue in various lands. But in the end I chose an article more local to these shores.
This news is from up in Scotland. It is about the relocation of Golden Eagles chicks from the Scottish Highlands over to Dumfries and Galloway:
Apparently they are so excited about the potential boost to the numbers of Golden Eagles in the south of Scotland, they are even planning a festival for them.
These are magnificent birds, and it is always good news to hear of wildlife flourishing.
So there are these young guys who come wandering into the pharmacy – most of them somewhere between the ages of 13-17. They come in and usually they ask for one particular product. Now we know that it a substance subject to misuse.
So we ask them about the medicine they are asking to buy – Who is it for? What are their symptoms? How long have they had those symptoms for? What have they already tried to treat those symptoms? Do they take any other regular medication on prescription?
The answers they give us normally tell us that the product they are asking for us inappropriate for them – that besides their young age.
I take it seriously man. They are my brothers and they are playing substances they don’t understand, abusing medicines. I try to tell them that they should stay clear of this kind of this kind of trouble, but they don’t want to know. They want their fix.
They lie and they try to be clever so we will sell it to them. But we know them. We recognise their faces. We say no because we care. We are not going to help them to harm their own health. I know they leave annoyed that they could not get what they wanted – and it’s so bad that we actually have to hide it so that we don’t get aggression from them when we refuse the sale. But it is sad man. It’s such a crazy situation to have to deal with.
So I love Adele’s voice and always said she had to be record a Bond theme from the moment I heard her. She can pack in so much drama into that booming voice of hers. I was thrilled when I heard her track “Skyfall” for one of the 007 movies. She was my first pick for today’s theme from Jim.

This is the end Hold your breath and count to ten Feel the earth move and then Hear my heart burst again
For this is the end I’ve drowned and dreamt this moment So overdue I owe them Swept away, I’m stolen
Let the sky fall When it crumbles We will stand tall Face it all together
Let the sky fall When it crumbles We will stand tall Face it all together At skyfall That skyfall
Skyfall is where we start A thousand miles and poles apart Where worlds collide and days are dark You may have my number, you can take my name But you’ll never have my heart
Let the sky fall (let the sky fall) When it crumbles (when it crumbles) We will stand tall (we will stand tall) Face it all together
Let the sky fall (let the sky fall) When it crumbles (when it crumbles) We will stand tall (we will stand tall) Face it all together At skyfall
[x2:] (Let the sky fall When it crumbles We will stand tall)
Where you go I go What you see I see I know I’d never be me Without the security Of your loving arms Keeping me from harm Put your hand in my hand And we’ll stand
Let the sky fall We will stand tall At skyfall Oh-s…
Life has it’s challenges, but it also has it’s wonders. I read a comment on WordPress from one blogger to another. She said life is like a voyage. Sometimes we face storms and we might almost shipwrecked by them. We might have to drop our anchor and cling on with everything we have.
After the storm, we may have to shelter in a safe harbour for a while and try to repair some of the damage. But eventually we will be strong enough to head out to sea again, and unfurl our sails.
I found that metaphor real powerful. Thanks for being an inspiration Mel. I bought your book. Looking forward to reading it.
