Thursday Verse

In his days the righteous will flourish, and peace will abound until the moon is no more.

Psalm 72:7

A lot of people think that world peace starts with individuals learning to find peace within themselves and that peace radiating throughout their lives.

But while the world is filled with suffering and injustice, is true peace possible? We see the level of deep rooted self interest and ambition that governments have promoted to the extent that now there seems to be almost “vaccine wars” brewing.

The good news is that God’s Kingdom is a government that has already been educating people internationally for decades. It is educating people to love what is right and to truly care for other people.

Human governments may talk peace – and they will, it is prophesied they will talk peace – but they will never achieve it. God’s Kingdom will bring an abundance of peace allowing the human family to flourish.

Wednesday Writer – Annette Lewis

It is my honour to interview the lady who knows the way to my heart – chicken dishes. The awesome Lady A is in the house (not literally because of the lockdown) and sharing her deep interview answers.

I’M SO EXCITED TO BE INTERVIEWING YOU LADY A – WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

As it is early in the morning, I think I would like a coffee please Jacob – a cappuccino would be perfect.

Coffee, Latte Art, Cup, Drink, Beverage

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

I have to admit I made a right pickle of setting up my site. I tried a whole bunch of names that were already taken in the setting up phase. Eventually I ended up calling myself “Lady A” – my name is Annette.

I called the blog “LADY LEWIS” with the tag line “…what Lady A thinks about it…”

I knew I would want food and recipes to be a big part of my blog, but I also knew I would perhaps have things to say on lots of subjects. Since I began blogging I have also had a few attempts at writing short fictional pieces. That is something I would like to do more of.

But the basic concept of my site is that I am inviting guests to come and sit around our dinner table – enjoy the food and drink and the conversation over dinner.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

My first post was 22nd October 2020. So I have managed to keep it up with almost daily posts for around four months now.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

Well…two reasons. One of my good friends had shared with us that she had been blogging for over two years and had related how enjoyable she found it. A lot of us were finding the first National Lockdown hard last year and were looking to the internet to find things to read. I saw people’s blogs and thought little of them at first.

Laptop, Computer, Business, Table, Paper

But when I saw Melody’s site, I found it very joyful. I was surprised she had not shared it with us earlier. It seemed like an enjoyable hobby during these lockdowns when we have had to be content with staying indoors much more than usual.

My second reason was purely out of concern for another dear friend of mine who had started her own blog. It has become a nice way for us to keep in regular contact. I am always a little cautious with regards the internet, but blogging along with friends feels safer.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

I had no idea until I checked just now. I am very surprised to find that I have a post with 46 “LIKES”:

https://whatladyathinksaboutit.wordpress.com/2020/11/19/work-to-make-your-life-wonderful/

It was a response to Deb Whittam’s 42-word prompt.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

So far I have enjoyed looking through past recipes that I know that we and our guests have loved and featuring them on my blog. But I am also having fun searching out new recipes to try for the blog.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

Something that is going to bring a smile to everyone around the dinner table. There are a lot of dishes that I know my husband and other relatives and friends have enjoyed, but without fail the one meal that makes everyone smile is a roast dinner.

I am passionate about perfectly crisp roast potatoes, delicious vegetable accompaniments and a good quality organic meat. I like adding little twists to the table – a new type of stuffing, different sauces and of course the much loved Yorkshire puddings have to be spot on.

I smile when I can see everyone at the dinner table enjoying their food.

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

I love this question Jacob. I think for me it would have to be some yellow roses.

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

Years ago, in our early years together, Robert was involved in a traffic incident. I think that changed my outlook on life and appreciation for him massively. Nearly losing someone you love makes you reassess everything and puts everything into perspective. I cannot listen to this song too often as if really moves me, especially the video, but it encapsulates so much of what I felt when Robert was in hospital recovering from his injuries.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

Right now, I am planning to go to Waitrose, after that I will return home.

Where am I going in life? I do believe life is in some respects a journey, but most of that journey is within. Sometimes, the journey is simply a longing for home.

I grew up in a fabulous family which shaped the person I am. Meeting Robert on a holiday with friends was a significant moment in my life. We got on so well. When we eventually got together, I think it was obvious to everyone we were a true match. It’s not always easy for people to find someone they are ideal for.

A lot of people end up compromising who they are just for the sake of being with someone. I never felt I had to compromise who I was, and I would hope Robert never felt that way. Yes, there are times when we have both had to compromise on very minor matters, but we do agree on everything that matters.

The sense of HOME that I found with Robert and I had the feeling that whatever life or the world threw at us, we were the ideal duo to deal with challenges together. That has proved to be the case.

So where am I going in life now? I found HOME many years ago so ever since then we have been inviting people into our home as our dinner guests. I do look forward to this virus no longer being a threat so we can share many more joyful evenings with all the people we love.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

I guess it would be to APPRECIATE the people in your life now. APPRECIATE what you have, don’t worry about what you do not have. Make the most of what you can do rather than becoming upset about what you can not do.

I am not sure my blog really conveys that message. My blog is more about food, wine, music, and conversation – which are all things I have a deep appreciation for. I am finding a way to share my enjoyment of those through my blog.

But it is sometimes those little quiet moments when you are alone when you finally gain insights into life and existence. Appreciate peace and quiet and the chance to think deeply without the commercial or entertainment industry telling you what to think.

I read my most popular post again, and I suppose that contained a succinct pithy message:

I have learnt that life is no fairytale. It’s not always a bed of roses. There is a jungle of weeds to fight through. However, persistent efforts can make life a delight. The work never stops but life can be made beautiful.

WORK TO MAKE YOUR LIFE BEAUTIFUL – LADY A

***

Wow! Lady A – that was amazing. Thank you for sharing your answers to the interview questions. You shared so much wisdom and it just blew my mind getting to know more about you and your husband. Maybe when the pandemic is over, I will get to sit at your dinner table (please make roast chicken) and see more of the love that your blog and your home radiate.

This is a song for you Lady A….

Tuesday News

The highlight of news broadcasts last week was of course the amazing Rod Ponton who turned up at a zoom court hearing with whiskers! Apparently he was using his secretary’s computer, and his secretary has a young daughter, who must have installed filters:

https://www.today.com/popculture/meet-cat-lawyer-rod-ponton-who-went-viral-after-zoom-t208597

Oh I ached man – this made me laugh so much my belly actually ached. Thank you Mr Ponton – you totally saved the week!

Manic Monday

I was on my way to work the other day, whistling to keep my spirits up, when…

…five police cars with their blue lights flashing and sirens blaring went speeding through the crossroads. Then two ambulances followed about half a minute behind. Then came another three police cars.

It felt like we were downtown New York. Was there a bank being robbed? Was there some horrendous pile-up on the South Circular? Was it a terrorist act?

I have no idea – but it kind of shook me. Something was going on nearby. I have no idea what it was, maybe I never will, but there must have been something terrible happening.

Moments later, I arrived at work with my pulse still racing, and have to pretend that there is nothing wrong in the world, and that I am all ready to be enthusiastic and energetic about dispensing blood pressure tablets and anti-depressants. This is a sick world, and I know because of the bucket loads of drugs we have to hand out to help people funtcion.

In My Brain, See Your Face Again

I honestly thought it was going to be a love theme for today. So I had to pick a love song to fit with the theme which includes “brain”. The song is a sensation “To Love Somebody” and I have chosen a recording by Nina Simone.

Credits: Barry Alan Gibb, Robin Hugh Gibb, and Scott William Matthew

There’ a light
A certain kind of light
It’s never shown on me
I want my whole life to be
Lived with you
Lived with you

There’s a way
Everybody say
Do each and every little thing
What good does it bring
If I ain’t got you If I ain’t got you
If I ain’t got you If I ain’t got you

You don’t know
What it’s like
Baby you don’t know
What it’s like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you

In my brain
See your face again
I know my frame of mind
You ain’t got to be so blind
And I’m blind so blind

But I’m a woman
Can’t you see what I am
I live and breathe for you
What good does it do
If I ain’t got you If I ain’t got you
If I ain’t got you If I ain’t got you

Say you don’t know
What it’s like
Baby you don’t know what it’s like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you

Oh’a, you don’t know
What it’s like
Baby you don’t know
What it’s like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you

Thursday Verse

“The wilderness and the parched land will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron.”

Isaiah 35:1

I watched the recent David Attenborough documentary “Perfect Planet” on the BBC throughout January. I was amazing to watch, and yet sad at the same time.

That series cemented in my mind that our home is exceptional, there is no where else quite like it. The incredible attributes that allow life to thrive are close to miraculous. Yet, there is a force that is upsetting life on this perfect planet dramatically – humans abusing the planet.

So much damage has already been done. It hurts. Watching those scenes of animals suffering due to the way human behaviour has effected their habitat is harsh. Things have to change.

The verse I chose today is one of many verses that describes how under God’s Kingdom, this earth will be restored to be the home our Creator intended. We will learn to care for our wonderful home and all it’s creatures. Under God’s Kingdom, the damage will be undone. The whole earth will flourish.

Wednesday Writer – Jenna Kirkpatrick

Today, I am pleased to welcome the pinklicious Jenna to tell us about herself and her blog.

OK PINKETTE, TAKE A SEAT AND RELAX, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Thanks Jacob. Well, it is pretty late here. I can’t sleep, so it would be nice to have a drink that could send me to sleep.

How about a large glass of red wine? If I sip that slowly and answer your interview questions hopefully I will be sleepy enough to go back to bed.

Fun, New Year'S Eve, Event, Color, Wine, A Glass Of

My partner Ben loves fine wines, and although I am not a connoisseur, I like my wine deep, rich and complex – just like my man is. Ben always knows what I like. I can never remember the names of the wines I have tried and liked.

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

So I am Jenna Kirkpatrick and my site is RASPBERRY RIPPLES. It is about love, erotica, romance, and seduction.

If you ever see a pair of pink lips have LIKED your post post, it might be me.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

We set up the blog on 1st August 2020, so it is just over six months that we have been on WordPress.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

We had just published two novellas on Amazon. One of our friends suggested setting up the blog so that we could market our books.

But what has actually happened is that I have ended up writing lots and lots of posts including fiction, poetry, personal accounts and just fun features to liven up the blog.

Blogging has turned out to be unexpectedly enjoyable hobby. I find much of the writing I am doing cathartic. However, I do want to get back to working on fiction. Sometimes the personal accounts can be tiring.

...AND YOUR BOOKS ARE?

Wonderful??? We have published three of them so far. There is more in the pipeline, but I need to set aside time to edit them.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

Surprisingly, it is a recent post called “My Teenage Years” in which I essentially recommend to teenagers that they wait before they have sex. You would not expect that from an erotica blog, would you?

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

The best thing about blogging is other bloggers. I have loved reading their posts and getting to know them.

There is a lot of support and encouragement, especially from the bloggers that run memes. I think that Marie, May and Brigit (and others) have all encouraged me to dig deeper and I have been inspired by their writing prompts.

I also love that I have drawn close to other bloggers. Gentleman Dave is someone I have found I have really clicked with. He is a gorgeous person.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

The ultimate comfort food for me is a cheese toastie.

When I was little, I used to stay with my relatives in England a lot. They used to make these amazing cheese toasties. Sometimes they would add onion or baked beans, but normally it was just plain melty cheese. Happy days.

There is something wonderful about melty cheese.

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

Ah Jacob – so sweet! So long as they are pink (and no lilies please) I would be thrilled. I love flowers that have a pretty fragrance.

Wedding, Flower, Krupnyj Plan

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

So, yeah, I guess there are a couple of songs that really register with me as “the story of my life”. They are not my favourite songs by any means – I love dance music and anything from Taylor Swift. But these two songs do touch me to my inner core. They are both kind sad. I won’t include the lyrics here, but if you google them you might have a better idea of why they are very poignant.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

Wow – that’s a deep question. For the most part, I am glad I made it this far. I feel deeply blessed that somehow life brought Ben to me. Now I want to keep tight hold of his hand as we work together to build our future.

I think that most of us want the same thing – a home, a family, friends, interesting work and good health. We want to fill our life with wonderful experiences and amass precious memories.

Family, Newborn, Baby, Child, Infant, Happy, Mother

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

When I started blogging I was not thinking of sharing a message with the world. But I guess now, six months down the road, I have a clearer view of the kind of erotica blog I want RASPBERRY RIPPLES to be.

I don’t want it to be trashy, cheap, meaningless sex. I feel that sex is a beautiful gift and should be treated like a precious prize that two people who love each other can impart. Sometimes, I have seen to much content cheapening sex and making it empty. So, I want to elevate love, romance, and intimacy.

Valentine'S Day, Valentine, Cookies

At the same time, the truth is that love and relationships can bring challenges and pain. I don’t want to pretend that love is always easy. But I believe in love – I believe primarily in unselfish genuine love that I think is not only the basis for any relationship, but also, should form the foundation of an international human family that truly cares. I think unselfish love is the way to world peace. Maybe deep down that is the message I want to share with the world.

***

Thanks Pinkette for being my first Wednesday Writer – that was real cool. I learnt a lot about you there. I am going to disagree with you on only one question Jenna. I think the songs you picked were too sad. So I am going to pick a song that fits you better.

Tuesday News

In a world that is full of anxiety and sadness, nature just keeps on producing reasons to smile. One of the most cheerful news reports during the past week was the videos from Washington’s Smithsonian National Zoo.

It’s not just us that go wild when it snows – pandas do too!

https://nypost.com/2021/02/01/giant-pandas-know-how-to-enjoy-snow-in-national-zoo-video/

I first saw this video on the BBC News, where they have set the frolics of the pandas to music. Love it!
