Thursday Verse

Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his life as a ransom in exchange for many.

MATTHEW 20:28

This weekend is a special weekend for many millions of people who long for the fulfilment of God’s purposes. After Adam spurned God’s love, he was allowed to have children. It is only because of God’s love that we have a hope for the future.

God sent his firstborn to the earth to provide the legal basis for mankind to be able to enjoy what Adam gave up. All our hopes – all of them – the removal of sin, the healing of mankind, the end of disease, crime, wars and terrorism, the resurrection of the dead, are all guaranteed because Christ was willing to give up his perfect human life in exchange for what Adam lost.

In a world where so many people seek their own glory and fame, one man stands out as the greatest man who ever lived – the one that ministered to humans, gave up his human life for them, and will soon have the joy of extending the benefits of his ransom sacrifice to all mankind.

  1. Adam disrespected God’s authority by eating the forbidden fruit, but I don’t think that he ever spurned God’ love. I actually can’t blame a guy for going along with his wife, but the real criminal in this story is the snake.

  2. I was reading the comment above and thinking…the snake was just a puppet right? The Devil was behind the words – is it really so God said…? If Adam and Eve had loved and trusted God we would never have been in this mess. God would have needed to deal with the Devil. But the timing was crucial. Adam chose a life without listening to God, the results – a human family that is in agony over pain. Adam and Eve brought pain on us. When God asked them what they had done, both of them tried to shift blame and not take responsibility – there was no sign they felt genuine sorrow. I think it’s clear they let us down badly. The Devil might be the evil person who influenced them, but they had every reason to trust God, they just liked the sound of being their own boss….what a disastrous choice that was.

    1. There’s a lot that could be said DREAMER, but I think it’s best if God has chance to say it himself. Romans 5:12 says: That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned.
