Your Goodbye

When I saw Jim’s theme for this week I wanted to share my latest love. I have been falling in love with Billie Holiday lately. There is a movie that I have not seen yet, but I have read a lot about “The United States vs Billie Holiday”. But forget the movie for now – that voice! I had no idea how amazing Billie Holiday was until I started searching through the tracks she recorded.

It is because I heard this song recently, called “All Of Me” that I have chosen it. I have included the Billie Holiday recording and because Andra Day deserves all the awards she has been nominated for, I have included her version for the movie.

CREDITS: Gerald Marks, Simon Marks and Seymour Simons

All of me
Why not take all of me
Can't you see
I'm no good without you

Take my lips
I want to lose them
Take my arms
I'll never use them

Your goodbye
Left me with eyes that cry
How can I go on dear without you

You took the part
That once was my heart
So why not take all of me

All of me
Why not take all of me
Can't you see
I'm no good without you

Take my lips
I want to lose them
Take my arms
I'll never use them

Your goodbye
Left me with eyes that cry
How can I go on dear without you

You took the best
So why not take the rest
Baby, take all of me

  1. All of Me a popular song and jazz standard written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931. It was first recorded by actress and singer Ruth Etting, but I love the Billie Holiday version. Andra Day has a very sexy voice and this song fits her well. Nice choice Jacob.
