Sometimes it feels as if the weeks are flying by this year. I have to admit, I seem to spend a lot of time looking at foodie posts. Why is that? It makes me so hungry. I loved the photos in Laura and Brett’s post this week. Am I reading this right – were all those delicious dishes under 400 calories? Desperate to get an invite to their dinner table!!

SIMON – Blog: A Year On Woodhouse Washlands

It is a long time since I was in Yorkshire, but I remember it as a massive contrast to London. There seemed to be an endless sea of green undulating with hedges and trees, dry-stone walls, and animals I had never seen before (animals never seen in Clapham!) I loved reading Simon’s account of the changes that occurred throughout the year. I wanted to be there walking through those dales myself.

This week is National Mental Health Awareness Week and this year’s theme is nature. Shelley made my day with this post. She shared a short video of her journey to work, were she seemed to be passing through a magical forest, with carpets of bluebells and sweet birdsong. Thanks Shelley for such a beautiful share!

More Covid Craziness

Most difficult customer of the year goes to….the lady who would not take no for an answer and decided to belittle every member of our team.

We had the most odd situation at work this week. A lady demanded we supply her with a covid vaccine. We explained that we are not administering covid vaccines. She looked around sixty years of age, so we assured her that her GP will contact her to invite her to attend a vaccination appointment.

Yet, she was not satisfied, she said she has seen pharmacies on the news administering the vaccine. We acknowledged that some pharmacies are doing exactly that, but we are not. She became furious, accusing us of trying to trick her.

Then she asked if we – our members of staff – have been vaccinated. I stayed quiet but one of the young girls nodded and told her that NHS front line workers have been offered the vaccine and that most of us have received it. That only added fuel to the fire. The lady started ranting and yelling that we had to arrange a covid vaccine for her.

We tried to calm her down, explaining we had no way of arranging an appointment for her, assuring her that she would be invited in time and reminding her that the best way to stay safe is to stay at home and be careful to wear a face mask and observe social distancing rules when out for essential reasons such as grocery shopping.

She stayed at the pharmacy for an hour distracting us from our work, demanding we arrange a covid vaccine for her and accusing us of deceiving her.

Monday Motivation

MORNINGS

Best way to start the week is with an early night on a Sunday (after taking a bi-weekly covid test). Then my habit for as long as I can remember is an early rise on a Monday morning. I can get a lot done it that time.

If I tidy up after the weekend, the rest of the week seems easier. I work out on a Monday morning, get my heart racing and blood pumping. I get to work early – boss is pleased with me. Work goes more smoothly. Sleep routine sorted for the rest of the week.

Work is always busy on a Monday, but starting early and feeling sharp makes a difference. We have loads of prescriptions landing on our screens from at least four main GP surgeries in the area. We have a delivery to organize. There is always a lot to do. But getting a head-start feels great.
