Blogging

I started the WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? blog on the 1st January 2021. New year, new project. We were at the start of what would turn out to be a very long third National Lockdown. What can I say? It has been amazing!

But life is getting busy again. Work has always been busy throughout the Pandemic, but now we have even more footfall at the Pharmacy and we are staying open for longer hours. Plus, I am back playing sports with friends and just hanging out – outdoors of course at the moment.

What I am trying to say is…I might be cutting back on blogging. I am proud of my site. This week I started making a few changes so that it is easier for anyone visiting my site to find some of my posts over the past few months.

You might notice in the primary menu there are two additional pages:

INTERVIEWS

and

MUSIC

They give you an easy way to find all of the WEDNESDAY WRITER interviews I have conducted so far and all of the songs I have featured as part of Jim Adam’s SONG LYRIC SUNDAY. Please feel free to check them out.

I might add a couple of other pages if I have time. I am not disappearing completely. The blog has been great fun and I have loved connecting with other bloggers. I can just tell that it is becoming harder to squeeze into free time.

Thank you for all of your amazing support so far! It’s been a total revelation to me that having your own site could be so enjoyable.

Wednesday Writer – Zak Brainstorm

Is it Wednesday already?!!! Well, that means we have another great WordPress writer for you. This week it is Zak who is bravely taking the hot seat.

HEY ZAK, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Hello Jacob, first I would like to thank you for this opportunity. Well I like to be energetic for my day so I would like a cold coffee.

It always keeps me awake and energetic to do any task given to me.

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

My blogging name is Zak Brainstorm, and you already know that my site name is Brainstorm Blogist.

So if u ever see a big uppercase ‘B’ know that its my site brainstorm blogist.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started blogging on October 2019; I don’t clearly remember the date. So this October it’s going to be my two years of blogging.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started blogging because I was mostly bored and wanted to share something. I can say that it is the best way to be creative, innovative and sometimes helps in many other things.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

I think my most popular post is “who am I ?” which I published on January 2021.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

The best thing about is that we can interact with other bloggers, improvise our post and support other recent bloggers.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

This is a tricky question for me, well I like all the dishes but pizza and paneer are on the top list.

I only recently discovered paneer Zak and I am loving it!

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

Well that would be iris spuria as they have the beauty of midnight sky. And not to mention I kind of like purple bluish tint.

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

Well I don’t have one instead there is a whole playlist of it, and it comprises of OneRepublic and their most vibing song counting stars

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

Well right now I know I’m focusing on my career and school.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

Only thing I can say is that always be creative and never stop creating or giving the hopes up.

_________________

Thank you Zak for great answers and for being such a positive influence. I wish you huge success as you concentrate on your studies and the career ahead of you. Keep creating and like you said in your own message to the world – never give up hope!

Wednesday Writer – THE RAMBLING SLOTH

We have an amazing writer to inspire you this week. Not only are her posts amazing but the blogger behind “The Rambling Sloth” is also inspirational. I am thrilled to present her as this week’s WEDNESDAY WRITER!

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVEW WITH YOU?

A lovely hot cup of coffee please!

Coffee, Beans, Mug, Cup, Coffee Cup

Julie – I am also going to add a milk/cream jug and a sugar bowl as I don’t know how you take your coffee.

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

I’m Julie and I write at The Rambling Sloth 🦥

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

Roughly 8 days in to The first UK Covid-19 lockdown end of March 2020.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

Our local historic society asked for people to keep a diary of what life was like in lockdown for future generations.

Having suffered with mental health, anxiety and depression, I wanted to get the word out that it was ok not to be ok. I’ve always been a bright and bubbly people pleaser until I fell apart on September 2018 and had to go off sick from my Senior Management manufacturing position. I wanted people to see how I managed through that during a global pandemic.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

I honestly don’t know….. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I did a quick scan over your posts Julie, and it looked to me as if the post with the most likes (but I have no idea how many views it received) was this one:

Day 100 of COVID-19 lockdown… what have we learned so far?

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

If I can help one person to realise they are not alone then it will have all been worth it.

Hot, Young People, Summer, Landscape

It also helps me clear my head and make sense of my own thoughts.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

Hmmmmm probably pizza… every time

Pizza, Food, Italian, Baked, Cheese

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

Wildflowers….   my hubby calls them weeds!!

Something romantic about them though!

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

Dear Me by Eric Hutchison

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

Honestly not really. I just know that is gonna be a lovely place to be and I am going to be happy with the direction.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

That is ok not to be ok.

That people are not always what they seem and everyone has difficulties to deal with no matter how good it might look on the outside.

_________________

Wasn’t that great! I love Julie’s posts. I love her story. I love her motivation. The message you have to share with the world is something we all need to remember in these stressful times. Thank you for writing and thank you Julie for replying to the interview questions I sent you and being such an awesome WEDNESDAY WRITER.

Wednesday Writer – GEE LIZ

This week I am proud to feature a talented blogger with a passion for books yes we have Gee Liz taking the hot seat this week!

SO LIZ, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Coke Zero.

I live off the stuff. I can’t stand hot drinks, and I’ve not drank water in around 15 years.

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

My blogging name is GeeLizReads and that’s also the name of my site… this is the link.

www.geelizreads.wordpress.com

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started blogging on the 12th February.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started because I had always wanted to review books.

I already do this on Amazon and Goodreads but always wanted to have my own site too. I was going to do it around 6 years ago but somebody put me off by saying I wouldn’t be very good at it.

I am sorry someone said that to you Liz. But you are knocking it out of the ballpark with your book reviews, so I am glad you started your site.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

It’s difficult to say which is my most popular post on my site but I think it is On The Edge by Ilona Andrews – A book review.

https://geelizreads.wordpress.com/2021/02/12/on-the-edge-by-ilona-andrews/

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

The best thing about blogging is reaching other people and having the same interests as people all over the world.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

Chocolate! I am addicted to chocolate. I actually gave it up, along with everything sugary, in November and raised money for Alzheimers Society.

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

If you sent me flowers then I would love Roses, either Red (but then people might get the wrong idea, ha!), Black, or Rainbow.

I am not going to worry about anyone getting the wrong idea – red roses for being a brilliant blogger is the least you deserve.

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

I wouldn’t say I have a song that fits me as a person or fits my life but I do have a go to song when I need a lift – When You’re Looking Like That by Westlife (I’ll listen to it, scream along and jump around like crazy for the entire duration of the song). I know it’s really cheesy music but I love cheese and it just cheers me up instantly.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

I used to think I knew where I was going in life but life changes so quickly and is so unpredictable. I’m happy going through life with not so much knowing where I am going, but with the thought process of being able to cope with wherever my life does go.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

My blog is just book reviews, so I don’t think it really tells the world anything. I suppose it shows that I am excited about books and I like to share that with people, and it’s ok to be excited about things like books!

________________

I think books are exciting Liz! I think it’s great that you read and review them and enthuse excitement into others.

I am so pleased to have been able to feature you as this week’s Wednesday Writer.

Wednesday Writer – Hugh Grant

It’s Wednesday again, which means it is time to get to know another WordPress blogger. This week’s interview is with Hugh Grant – no not the actor, but the blogger.

HUGH, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Let’s make it a beer mate.

Beer, Cheers, Sunset, Sunlight, Bottles

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

Hugh Q Grant – not the actor – and my site is called FLY ON THE WALL.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

Just before Christmas.

I have only been blogging for a couple of months. Years ago I tried something like this, well, it was more of an online journal, but I had about two views in a year. WordPress is a lot more lively than I expected it to be.

Wordpress, Social Media, Communication

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

Lockdown Three was about started, with London being put into Tier 4. Christmas was cancelled for London and the South East of England. I had the idea that doing a bit of writing would take my mind off what was a completely dire end to 2020. The only thing I regret is that rather than writing fiction, I have ended up just having a moan about stuff going on too often than I would like. I’ve never thought of myself as a negative person, but I can see in my posts that I have been grumpier than I realized.

I am am surprised at how much the blog has kept my interest up. But then, we are still in a National Lockdown, so not much has changed.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

It’s bizarre but it was a bit of a rushed post that I typed out about showing my parents the blog I had set up and making the turn of the year a fresh start. I emailed them a link and they started reading through my posts. My Dad said I sounded fed up. He was right. So since then, I try to make the effort not to let every post turn into a grumble.

My parents both have an optimistic nature. It made me realize how much it is affecting me not being with them. It’s been a battle to keep my spirits up sometimes.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

So far, the best thing about blogging has been the communal events. I’ve been taking part in Jim’s Song Lyric Sunday ever since I came across it. It’s not just about the music. It’s about having a little chat with other people.

The best communal event I found literally saved the end of last year for me. Caramel’s Cocktail Club was all about bloggers cheering each other up during a time when a lot of us were stuck at home on our own during the holidays.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

A mug of strong tea and a bacon butty would bring a smile to my face any day. I have been trying to make the switch over to vegetarian bacon and I’m getting used to it, but occasionally the real stuff has ended up in my shopping basket.

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

No need to send me flowers mate. If you want to know what kind of flowers I like though I will tell you – daisies. They make me think of school. Lunchtimes, laying in the grass which was dotted with tiny daisies, buttercups and dandelions.

There’s something about them that makes me smile.

Flower, Nature, Daisy, Macro

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? – ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

Do you know a band called The Charlatans? I’m going to pick their song “One To Another”. Don’t ask me why thought mate. Memories. It brings back memories.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

If you are asking me where I want to go in life, where I want my life to end up, I can give you the answer. I just want what most people have wanted for thousands of years. I want to find a girl and settle down. I want to have a family and a home. I want to play football in the park with the little ones and help them with their geography homework. I want to be still married myself when I see my kids old enough to walk down the aisle and get married themselves.

Affection, Beach, Parents, Child, Family

But although that’s what I want, I don’t think I am anywhere near that ideal. Part of that is my own fault. In the past I think work, making time for my mates and just being too fussy were all reasons why I ended up drifting apart from and breaking up from previous girlfriends. This world seems to make it harder than ever to have those basic ideals in your life. But the pandemic has made me appreciate that finding someone to share your life with is not something that should drop to the list of priorities. So next time, I am going to give it my all.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

I have a few messages to tell the world. One is – that facemask you are wearing on your chin, it’s supposed to cover your nose and mouth. Also stop worrying about when you are going to be back partying and on the beach in Spain or Greece. Just accept we are still in the middle of a Pandemic.

Man, Model, Face Mask, Mask, Pose

But I know that people have found this time tough. I suppose my message to the world is – what have you learnt matters most? What have you learnt about being prepared for economic downfalls? What have you learnt about keeping yourself sane when you can’t socialize or spend your free time doing the things you’ve always enjoyed?

I think that if we have not learnt anything then we are going to struggle in the future when challenges come along. If we have learnt from this past year, then we should be stronger and more prepared for future trials…and don’t make any mistake, this world is in a mess – there will be more trouble ahead.

I am sure that all this survival of the fittest crap is going to prove false. It is going to be good and right that triumph. It might not seem that way, but I have seen so many times this year that there is something far more powerful than governments, scientists or big business who is preparing good people for the future. I think it’s obvious that surviving the mess that man is making is going to depend on being a good person, not in our own eyes, but in the eyes of whoever it is that judges us all. I think he is probably watching people more closely than ever at the moment to pick up on their attitudes. I wonder who he wants to take care of this planet?

The World, Earth, Globe, In The Hands

____________________

Hugh, thanks for answering the interview questions I sent you. It’s very interesting to get to know more about you. I am not sure about vegetarian bacon though – it sounds so wrong!

I think a lot of us can relate to you, sometimes this pandemic has made us feel lower than we would usually feel. I think sometimes we need to have an outlet for those negative feelings. But from your final message to the world, I can tell that deep down you are a positive person who wants goodness to conquer. I think that most of us want the same thing.

Wednesday Writer – Jess

I am absolutely loving the chance to feature other bloggers who I have been following on WordPress. Today I am interviewing one of my favourite bloggers, Jess – favourite because I love her poems.

HEY JESS – WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Hello! Thank you for having me today! I’ve been a bit anxious lately, so I’ll take a cup of chamomile tea, please.

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

My blogging name is Jess, and the name of my site is Chaos of Life.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started my blog in April of 2020.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I had always liked writing, but I was starting to feel a bit claustrophobic with notebooks filled with poems and stories that I would never show anyone, even more so with the pandemic. So, blogging for me started as a sort of creative outlet, so that I could vent some of my feelings through poems that reflected my thoughts.

I think, though, that the initial purpose of blogging changed gradually, so now I continue blogging in hopes that my poems can make someone’s day better, while still trying to stay true to myself.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

The most popular post on my site is a poem titled “love letter“, which is basically a poem describing why I write and what I hope to achieve through my poems.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?
I think the best thing about blogging is getting a comment that tells you that you made their day better. You get a rush of endorphins and that euphoric feeling follows you through the entire day. It’s great, honestly! 🙂

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

I love crocus flowers because they’re the most vibrant shade of purple (my favorite color), and they are a fall flower (I love autumn).

Jess – here in the UK we have crocus flowers in the spring – in fact they are one of the very first flowers to appear in spring and a sign that winter is over. I love seeing them too.

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

I particularly like Fix You by Coldplay.

I’m the type of person who (so I have been told) can kind of intimidate people when they first meet me, since I’m quiet and seem pretty intense. But, once you get to know me, I’m someone who worries and stresses a lot about my actions and about other events going on in my life, and constantly reflects on myself and problems in society. Fix You, I think, perfectly encapsulates how I try to live my life by, acknowledging that you can’t have light without shadows – happiness without sadness – and that the best thing I can do is be there for myself or for others during those dark times.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

I can’t say I particularly know where I am going in life, except the fact that I know I am currently facing a crossroads (if you read my blog, then you know that I am still in school). I really hope that where I end up is a place where I feel proud of myself.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

I want the world to know that there is always someone there for you, even if it feels like you are alone in the middle of nowhere.

I want readers to know that there is both dark and light in society, and we must acknowledge both in order to grow.

I want everyone to know that you can be anything, as long as you try, and that you can succeed at anything, as long as you believe.

Thank you so much for interviewing me! I wholeheartedly enjoyed answering each question!

Jess, it was so great to be able to feature you as today’s Wednesday Writer. Your posts are always beautiful and intriguing. I wish you great success with all your work and any exams you have ahead of you. The message you left us with at the end is truly inspiring. I am sure you have an amazing future ahead!

Wednesday Writer – Rigozo

This week we have the sensational Rigozo in the hot-seat and what an incredible interview we have in store for you!

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Hello Jacob, glad to be here. I would love to have a cup of black tea with lemon juice, no sugar, please.

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE?

My blogging name is Rigozo. I came up with it myself several years ago, and I just loved how unique it sounded, you know. I didn’t think twice when it got down to using it for my blog.

My site is Waking Dreams – Unmasked. It is something I picked up from a book (nobody is surprised).

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

That would be April 2020.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

This one is easy. It was corona virus, and the threat of human annihilation. I’d desired to start a couple of years back around the time some of my friends started, but never got to it. It was this space I wanted where I could read, share stories, and indulge my love for photography and arts.

Last year I said to myself, ‘Uhm, now that the apocalypse is upon us, don’t you think this is a good time to start this blog already?’ Same way I said, ‘Who knows what next is going happen, most likely an alien invasion or cats will finally take over the world, why bother?’ I find procrastination to be one of my issues.

In any case, I had the support of my family and close friends of course, and I think they were more excited than I was when I eventually started blogging.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

Chasing Happiness. It has no rival. Interesting thing is, it’s my very first post. I think I poured out everything in that story because it was freeing to take that first step at last.

https://rigozo.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/chasing-happiness/

I think I am shocked because I didn’t expect it to start with.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

As an introvert I’m huge on personal space but it is wonderful to meet people and feel like a part of a community. I have met amazing writers and read even more lovely works that have inspired my work. Well, there are so many opportunities to explore, and I am willing to take them.

Recently, I started featuring writers and it has been amazing sharing their works. I also want to do this for photographers and other artists. In the end I want people to connect, as well as share; something I didn’t think I could handle that I now absolutely enjoy.

Also, it helped me improve my writing. I love to write short stories and poems, also hope to be a published author in the nearest future. I have had a few submissions and I’m now growing my own pile of rejection mails. Hah! I’m curious to see how it all turns out eventually.

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

That would be having fried plantain as a main dish or side dish. It makes me weak in the knees.

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

To be honest I have never gotten flowers before, I’m sure I’ll be thrilled with anything you send. I’ll be like wow, for me? Thank you so much.

So Rigozo, I wanted to explain why I ask bloggers this question. I walk to work, and every morning I pass two shops that are next door to each other which always give me a massive uplift without fail. One is an artisan bakery which has the most amazing aromas of fresh bread and herbs, which always makes me hungry. Next door is the most beautiful store I pass. It is an expensive florists, but during the pandemic they have been able to stay open by selling fruit and vegetables as well. They have so many different types of flowers all year round and they are gorgeous but what I also notice is the fragrances coming from them. It is just the happiest place in South London.

I walk past and think if I had the money, I would send those to my mum, and those to the aunties. So I am not great with knowing which flowers are which, but I would send you a bouquet to match the amazing personality that has come through in your interview – with bright colours and the sweetest fragrance.

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

I love music but I haven’t found that one song. It seems like too much to ask. Unlike books that help me escape reality for a time, music keeps me grounded. I’ll listen to a song because I can relate with it on a deeper level, the same way I’ll listen to it because I love to bust a move and unwind. I love that music can do so much for me.

One of my go to song would be Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

Goosebumps!  Well, I’m grateful to God and see every day as another chance to do better for myself. I’m fascinated about aging and it fuels my love for old things like, antiques, retro music, vintage outfits, and pictures.

It has helped me to blur the lines between the past, present and future, so sometimes I feel like taking a step back is taking a step forward. Where I’m going is as important to me as where I’m coming from, therefore I do my best today in the hopes that it will make tomorrow better.

People search for where they feel accepted, appreciated, and loved for simply existing. I hope to always find such a place as I journey through life. I just want a memorable existence for myself and wish the same for everyone else. I see myself finding happiness in the things I do, with the people I love and most importantly, within myself.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

I didn’t know I wanted to send a message to the world until you asked.

I’m hopeful to eventually make people see how much our lives can be enriched by appreciating the little things. A smile, a word of encouragement and a helping hand will go a long way in transforming people’s lives.

***

Wow! I mean WOW! Rigozo – that was a spectacular! I was thrilled when I read through your answers to the interview questions, but especially those last two are so special.

Wednesday Writer – Jim Adams

Taking the WEDNESDAY WRITER series to another level is mega-blogger and host of the best event on WordPress – SONG LYRIC SUNDAY (seriously you need to get yourself over there!) and Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Music Challenge Jim Adams!!

Please check out Jim’s post where he published his answers to the interview questions I sent over to him:

https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2021/02/25/my-first-interview/

Jim, it is so great to be allowed to feature such a top blogger. What would you like to drink while we are conducting this interview with you?

I used to be a big drinker and if Jacob was buying, I would be drinking.  However, my doctor always analyzes my blood because I have Type II diabetes and she is constantly worried about my kidneys, as I guess all that drinking, which I did years ago must have wreaked havoc on them, so I will pass on your kind offer of a drink for now.

So…I don’t want to make you ill Jim – I’m gonna pour you a glass of water just in case you get thirsty.

Could you tell us your blogging name and the name of your site please.

My blogging name is NewEpicAuthor which I chose because I wrote several very long books, which I never got published.  The title of my site is A Unique Title For Me.

When did you start blogging?

I joined WordPress on April 23, 2017 and wrote my first post on that day.  I am approaching a milestone very soon, as after this one I will have only 16 more posts to write in order to get me to 3,000.

Why did you start blogging?

I was looking for a platform to promote my books.

Which is the most popular post on your site?

That was out of this world Jim. Congratulations on hitting the 3000 post mark – that is incredible. You are a man who knows how to live it up with great music and great food. I hope you books end up in print – you sound like a guy with a lot of stories to tell.

Thanks for taking some time out to reply to the interview questions I sent you. You really are right at the top of the blogging world. I think it is a huge credit to you that you bring together so many different bloggers with a variety of personalities and music preferences. That is something real powerful.

Wednesday Writer – Kayla E. Green

Today, it is my privilege to welcome the awesomely talented writer and poet Kayla E. Green to the interview seat.

HI KAYLA, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK WHILE WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU?

Hi Jacob, thank you so much for having me! I’m not a big drinker, so I’ll take a glass of milk, please. 🙂

COULD YOU TELL US YOUR BLOGGING NAME AND THE NAME OF YOUR SITE PLEASE.

My site is The Unicorn Writer, and my blogging name is @theunicornwriter93 – which is also my Instagram handle.

I love unicorns, and a former co-worker actually nicknamed me “Unicorn” because of my positive, bubbly nature. I decided the name was fitting and used it for my author platform and blog.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started my blog in October of 2019.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I  wanted a space to explore my writing and love of reading as well as to share some of my poetry.

Over time, the blog evolved. I now focus on book reviews, author interviews, bookish shop features, and some self-promotion of my books.

WHICH IS THE MOST POPULAR POST ON YOUR SITE?

There are two blog posts currently tied as most popular: My first shared poem entitled “Purpose” and my interview with Indie author Sydney Hawthorn. My bookish shop features on Nerdy Book Box and Under the Sea Crochet are close behind in terms of popularity.

Readers that enjoy my poems like “Purpose” can read my entire collection, Metamorphosis, which is now available on Amazon.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

I enjoy the interactions I have with others. Was it not for my blog, I would not have met some awesome people, like you, Jacob. I also would not have been able to interact with some of my favorite authors including M. H. Elrich and Maggie Platt

FOOD THAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

If I have had a really bad day, my husband will sometimes stop and get me a crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich from McDonald’s – it always makes me smile. Ba da ba ba ba I’m lovin’ it!

IF I WAS GOING TO SEND YOU FLOWERS AS A THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

Sunflowers are my absolute favorite!

DO YOU HAVE A SONG? ONE THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON OR YOUR LIFE?

In high school I was tasked with picking and playing a song for my Teacher Cadet class that encompassed my personality. I picked the Star Wars theme song as I am nerdy, quirky, and awesome 😀

Though I am still a self-proclaimed nerd, I would have to say the song Evidence by Josh Baldwin has really been my “theme” for 2021 – I am blessed, and I am actively trying to appreciate God’s goodness more so everyday.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING IN LIFE?

I am currently under contract with Ambassador International to publish my first novella. My current WIP (writing in progress) is one I have been working on for years – The Goodness of Unicorns – and it is my dream to have it published as well.

I would love to be a career author, but I have to wait and see what God’s plan is for me in the long-run! I do know that it is something I will work for every day moving forward.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT YOUR BLOG TO TELL THE WORLD?

I want my blog to connect both readers and writers in the name of good books. I want aspiring authors to feel like they can accomplish their writing goals and I want them to listen to the story God writes on their hearts.

Thank you so much, Jacob, for taking the time to interview me! I have had so much fun. 🙂

It was an absolute pleasure to interview you Kayla. I loved the energy and positivity that came across in your answers. It is so fantastic that you have been able to forge links with other writers. I wish you every success in your writing journey! It sounds real exciting!

And forgive me but I have to say the McDonald’s crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich is exactly what would bring a huge smile to my face too!
